Is There a Fountain of Youth in Your Down Dog?

Can yoga really help you look younger for longer?  The answer really is yes!  All it takes is about 3 hours a week of challenging yoga, or any vigorous exercise.  Studies have shown for it to switch on your anti-aging hormones and according to some recent studies, can make you look an average of 9 years younger!

In addition to this fountain of youth you can also learn to breathe more deeply and train your mind as well as your body.  When we combine strengthening with stretching,  of more than one muscle at a time, you can really amp up the rate of the transformative improvements that go far beyond the surface.

Three major types of poses to help you tap into your fountain of youth are the following:

Twists- These massage your inner body so your circulation and lymphatic systems move optimally.  When this happens they carry fresh nutrients to the msucles and skin and remove toxins that can cause you to age faster.  A great example of a twist can be Twisted Chair.

Inversions- These also do the same as twists, plus they reverse the tendency of gravity to drag you down.  A great example of an inversion is Downward-Facing Dog.

Facial Yoga-  These poses tone and lift the muscles underlying the skin.  Which in turn help you to look younger and healthier!  A great (and fun) example of a facial yoga pose is Lion's Pose.
